Eric Hayes, the founder and Vice President at Cardinal Senior Living was first introduced to the senior living industry working at a local nursing home facility his sophomore year while attending Radford University. It was during this time that he was able to develop an appreciation and passion for senior care and was intrigued by a career that was set to serve and assist those in need. He then entered a training program that led to obtaining a Nursing Home Administrator license as well as completed the requirements leading to a BBA in Finance from Radford University.
Since obtaining his NHA license, Eric now has over 19 years professional experience working in the long-term care industry including 17 years acting in an executive role for multiple memory care, assisted living and nursing home communities throughout Virginia and Florida. He has successfully led multiple communities to their highest occupancy rates by ensuring the best standards of care, upholding resident interests and working closely with families. He’s been directly involved as an advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association for over 17 years, once serving on the Central and Western Virginia Walk Committee and is also a trained Alzheimer’s support group facilitator. Eric currently serves as a board member with the Virginia Assisted Living Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing advocacy, education, communication, and resources on behalf of Virginia’s assisted living industry. Also, as a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, he has extensive experience working with individuals with dementia and is committed to ensuring the highest quality of life for those he serves.
